I'm planning to use my wife's S4 Mini to configure a new SIM card for an iSocket 3G device which uses a micro SIM card.
The iSocket Manual emphasizes: "You must disable PIN code authorisation for the SIM card!" (their emphasis

I suspect that my new Giffgaff SIM card comes with this disabled by default, but if not then I'll take the route:
Settings->more->security->SIM card lock->Lock SIM

To do this, I will have to take my wife's SIM out, and put my new SIM in, temporarily.

This is the same process as when you swap SIMs when in a foreign country. So I presume that when I put my wife's SIM back in, her phone will go back to its original state.

But I'm a bit wary about doing this, in case the Lock SIM command somehow has a lasting effect on her phone (which in turn would have a lasting effect on ME... ☹️)
