You could be right...they have a picture of a Note1 but the write up and saysa Note 2 so not 100% now. I paid 649.99 + tax when I preordered mine in November. Worth every penny!
Do you think the note 2 is better than the htc one just from what you have seen or read so far planoman I'm thinking note 3 over gs4

I think the Note 2 is the best all around device on the market right now. More complete and better than the s4 and HTC One from what I have seen. I love and use it every day for work including the s pen features. I do use a Nexus 4 on the weekends since I do not use much battery, s pen and the size is more pocketable for shorts etc.

I have an upgrade coming sometime soon in the next few months and will probably save that for the Note 3. I was looking at the S4 as more of a weekend phone instead of a daily driver. I will keep my Nexus 4 for the updates so my issue becomes do I want to spend the cash to try out the S4? Not sure yet but I know I will not preorder it like I did the S3 and Note 2. I will wait to see the complete story. I was kinda excited to see the HTC and the lukewarm camera performance has turned me off. I already have a medicore camera with sealed battery and no SD card in the Nexus 4 lol!

unless they changed something you can do an early upgrade on any phone, they just add 200 to the contract price , so it'd be alittle cheaper

This is AT&T and they didn't carry the 32GB on the GS3 so my guess is its 16GB which is a crime.

I think we'll see lines but nothing like what the iPhone had. Even iPhone lines won't be as long but they'll probably still sell more simply because of preorders. As long as they make a ton for preorders then that's less people that stand in lines. Most people that are willing to wake (stay?) up for preorders are the same folks that would wait in a line for 8 hours. Again, I definitely expect long lines, but not something unseen just based on the fact that carriers and the manufacturers want to prepare better and while having people lined up for your device is good publicity, it's better for both to meet early demand with home deliveries. When the iPhone first hit Verizon there were all types of negative reports about how there were no lines at Verizon stores and such. A month later, Verizon announced it as their best selling device ever for a new one on their network. Why? Because it was available online for preorder.
    Yeah. There won't be lines.

I just hope they have the 32 and 64. Have decided if so getting the gs4 over the One. If they only have 16 like usual for their Sammie devices will go with the One

I have a bad feeling part of the HTC One exclusive on AT&T was no 32/64GB on GS4 and they get the 64GB HTC One. While tempting HTC has broken every promise on updates and reliability ratings. Its a pass even though its a nice looking device.

What HTC phones are you basing this on I have 2 HTC phones on Verizon and have gotten updates on both, but all i keep hearing is how HTC and verizon never update phones, and i have had great luck with reliability

As I recall reading HTC canceled device updates for just about every phone that was in 2011 and 2012, as for Verizon well I had the Incredible and does that run ICS and did the updates ever go beyond bug fixes. It took HTC & Verizon how long top fix the constant problems on the Thunderbolt which I got on day 1 of launch. I forgot they rolled out ICS 4.0 in Feb. 2013, how long overdue was that. Are we not on JB 4.2.2 and that would be 2 full OS updates behind.

How does the preorder process work with the 2 yr contract? I ask because I have a GNex with Verizon, currently, and I obviously don't want them to do anything to mess with my service with Verizon until I can actually have my new phone in hand. I'll be transferring my number and stuff to AT&T.

I am not sure how that would work. You can't port your number over now because your phone is not compatible with ATT. Have any old GSM phones laying around? Port your number over and then preorder on the 16th but I am sure you want the S4 for 249... If you wait to do it and the same time but it could be messed up (and most likely will) and you will blame and hate ATT. Not really sure of the process I have never switched carriers. Maybe visit an att store to find out? Speak to at least three of them and make sure the process is the same. You never know what you will get from the sales reps.

Everything you describe is the fault of carriers. HTC gave Verizon the update for the thunderbolt, for example, 6 months before Verizon bothered to approve it.

Is that how much the Note 2 is now?
I believe the Note 2 is 199 on contract and 549 for no commitment.
Don't forget the Note 2 was $299 when it first came out and they sold millions. If $249 is too high just wait a few months.
The Note 2 still is $299 on contract on AT&T. So I would doubt the S4 is going to come down from $249, at least on AT&T.

Still slightly on topic... How much do you guys think the unsubsidized price of a verizon galaxy S4 will be? I ask because if it's 250 at ATT, and I'm having to pay a damn ETF with verizon, regardless, I could just buy the phone unsubbed and keep my grandfathered unlimited data.

I would count on a price of about $700. $650 at minimum.

The S3 was $600 (ok, $599) at Amazon Wireless. It still shows at that price. But it also shows unavailable, which leads me to believe that they will be selling the S4 very soon.

599 is more manageable for me, because I'll be buying a bigger SD card for the phone, a case, etc. So, it wouldn't be as bad.

I am still using the Thunderbolt and I recently received the ICS update and the phone is now worse than ever, constant freezing and a great deal of Lag.

    I can't wait for the GS4.

I'm not quite sure what AT&T is getting at. Why on Earth would you launch a flagship (i'm assuming with 16 GB) for $249?

They'll still sell Millions of units but that price might keep many form getting it.
Because the market suggests that it will sell at that price. Believe it not, carriers actually do take a bit of a hit when it comes to selling subsidized phones. Of course, they are often able to make that money back over the course of a contract, but I'm sure they'd rather reap more profits on the initial purchase.

I'd be willing to bet that Amazon will sell it for $199
Yeah, and Best Buy too...though it may be a few weeks before you can get a new device in your hands for that price.

Yeah but when is the verizon on being released LOL
Good question indeed. I love Verizon's network, but do hate being the last kid on the block to get all new toys. I know Verizon was the last major US carrier to release the S3, so I'm not holding my breath...

Not that I was planning to get the S4 in the first place (I'm happy with my Nexus 4), but $249 on contract is a pretty hefty number. What will the price be for off-contract? $800?

Do yourself a favor and get the phone from T-mobile. It's $99 down, plus $20 a month for 24 months. Pay it all up front if you want, and it's $580. If you must give money to AT&T and can't get T-mobile, buy the phone from T-mobile, get it unlocked, and use on AT&T.
I really love what T-Mobile is doing with their new plans. I would switch over to them in a heartbeat if they actually got any data reception in my home city -- generally 2G at best for data...I just can't live on that.

I'm pretty happy with my S3 on Verizon right now...but I know I'll probably upgrade once the Verizon version does come out (once there's confirmation that the bootloader can be unlocked, that is). For now though...I can wait.

The Note 2 is $650 off contract on AT&T, so I'm pretty sure the S4 will be $600.
