Have to say I am not pleased with low light. Here are a couple shots of my wife from inside The Vortex here in Atlanta. It was dim but not dark.

Re: [Galaxy S4] Camera Pictures: Lets see what you got!

Had the opportunity to test out the GS4 and the HTC One with the updated camera patch. The HTC one takes far better pictures in pretty much every scenario, but the picture sizes are much smaller. Given that I always reduce the size of a photo to pretty much what the HTC One uses, I see a clear victor.

Both have great cameras though, and both are great phones. Cant go wrong with either, but the premium quality of the HTC is just too awesome.

And this right here is why the HTC One is the way to go for me at least. Every camera is decent in high light, but nothing comes close to the HTC at this point in low light.

Which meter mode are you using? Center-weighted, Matrix, or Spot? Normally I use matrix but in this situation spot may be the best. Metering your wife's face would have resulted in a better exposure for her while the light background over her right shoulder would have been overexposed. I don't have the S4 yet but I'm sure there's a way to position the spot(?) over her face, hold the exposure, and then re-frame the picture.

A camera is nothing more than a tool. Getting good results with both phones may require slightly different techniques. Practice, practice. Both have the potential for great results. For instance, the S4 comes with three metering modes. You will get three different results -- in tricky lighting situations -- from the three metering modes. IF you are really serious about getting good results with either phone's camera research what each metering mode does ... and doesn't do.

This may assume like a absolutely brainless question, but it seems like there is a artificial blur over my lens. Having never endemic a Samsung Galaxy S4 before, i don't apperceive if it is aloof like that or if there is in actuality artificial I should remove. I can't assume to get a absolute aciculate picture. Did you guys accept to abolish annihilation accoutrement the lens?

Have you removed the protective film over the lens? Many posters here have said Samsung ships the phone with a plastic stick-on film to protect the lens in shipping.

Was center weighted. Unfortunately I am a horrid photographer so I am usually at the mercy of the device.

For comparison this is the best picture I ever got with my Samsung Captivate untouched
