I use my droid all day and for the most part i have to be plugged in because by the second my battery is at one bar. I just bought this phone. It is fast, even on the battery.

Sometimes you need to go to task manager and stop other programs from running. I did find that to be the reason for my quick power loss.

Managed to get that before it shut itself off. 6 hours of on screen time on the first charge cycle. That's almost in the Note 2 territory.

Wow, you got twice the life I did. Doesn't mine seem bad? My iPhone 5 blew this out of the water.

I have pretty poor reception at work, like 1or2 bars. But still, same reception on my iphone. I hope this improves because that's pretty awful.

Anyone have any idea what's killing my battery so fast? Phone gets really hot too.

It's your data. That burns way more than when on wifi especially LTE. Toggle your data off with a widget like widgetsoid or power toggles. It's fast and saves lots of battery.

Is the goggle maps for using navigation? That eats battery big time

    Try this:

Power off phone, remove battery for 2 minutes, then put it back in.

I have no idea why but this would fix random run away processes that killed my galaxy s3 battery exactly like what's happening to you.

I'm getting about 12 hours usage screen using 71% total time screen on 4:40 hours

Without knowing the screen on time, I don't think those screenshots are too informative.

Were you using the maps that much? On my first cycle of the battery I noticed google maps used around 30-40% battery and I didnt even use maps, Found out the latest updates of maps was causing this, uninstalled the update and battery life was a lot better...

Whatever it is doing it is eating your battery! Does the S4 Have a task manager like other Galaxy Phones? On my Note 2 I will periodically close all running apps and clear the RAM just incase there is a rouge app.

It's Google Now. Sucks life out of your phone and uses location services/maps.

The "Screen" entry on the battery page is a catch all -- you could be using apps like crazy and it would all show up as "Screen"

The battery is so bad for a new phone just come from iphone 4s n tht phone lasted longer n that was over a year old
I got my S4 yesterday, played with it for 6 straight hours downloading a bunch of stuff, trying out ever application and listening to music. My first impression was great battery. I moved from an S2, but seems like S4 is much better. I assume the battery will get better after the first charge. I did order another spare battery, I don't like the big extended versions. Sorry for your problems, there may be some setting that killing your battery?

The screen entry is screen on time, nothing more and nothing less. If you keep your screen on that time will continue to rise even if you're not using any apps.

My battery has been doing fine. When I unplug it at 6:30 a.m the phone ends the day (11:30pm) at aroudn 25%. Not too bad IMO.

That's what I'm saying -- it doesn't differentiate between whether you are doing something (battery intensive) or not, it all just shows up as screen on time.
