The number one thing killing my battery in the settings menu is Google services.. How is this possible. The screen isn't even number one.. Has anyone experienced this being the main cause of battery drain? Is their any way to fix this?

That's odd. After 13h uptime of various activities, I have used 55% on Android System, and Google Services doesn't even show up on the list. I didn't disable anything Google either.
Screen for me was 28%. Also used to seeing screen at the top on other phones.

I just noticed this today on my own device. Has there been any additional update on what's causing it or how to resolve it?

If you have updated too the new Google Maps Version 7.0 then this should help you.
This new maps update turns on Location reporting automatically which in turn leads to your device waking up like crazy.

Turn off Location reporting and you should not experience the Google services drain anymore.

@msavic6 I appreciate the response, but I'm not sure I understand. I don't have 7.0 yet. So is it the update to 7.0 fixes the issue? OR is it that even with 7.0, I need to turn off the location settings?

Thanks so much!

Try this... Go to Settings, Accounts, Backup and reset. Check and see if back up my data is checked. If so, uncheck it and see if that helps. It helped my battery life tremendously.

If you turn off that cause tha data of any application doesn't upload to the Google Servers and if you need to do a factory reset later you don't have ALL the data of any app. That is a big problem trust me, so I recommend you turn on again cause you don't even know.

Check if you have Google Now, Location On, and any other app from Samsung on. I turned off all of that things and my battery is real good without need a battery saver. Hope I help you a little. :)

For those of you seemingly having issues with Google Services, what percentage does it generally run? For me it's currently 26%. And my battery blows. 8-10 hours a day, max. Probably closer to 6-8. That's with moderate usage. Twitter, FB, texting.
