If you want to remove it completely, try this app. It worked on all my previous phones.

Click on the settings icon. Press it again for a window to pop up. Then select the most right tab and scroll down, you should see the shutter sound option. It should be second to last on the list.

Not seeing that at all, second from the bottom is Storage. There's no option that I can see in the camera settings to turn it off. Unless your using a different camera.

while in the camera, hit the menu key, a window will pop up, hit the cog wheel, after storage it should say shutter sound. if not, maybe they removed it on your carrier for what ever reason

That's a stupid customization. How weird. It's there on my T-Mobile.

I have the international version (I9505) and i don't have the shutter option. Maybe i'll stick to silencing the phone before i use the camera. Thanks for the replies!

This worked perfectly! Only solution I've seen without rooting phone. Thank you, sux2bu!

In some countries, to reduce the random picture taking of others without permission, shutter sound is mandatory by law. This is legacy rules from feature phone(dumbphone) era. My Korean variant doesn't have the shutter sound option.

For all the international phones & carriers without the option for shutter sound, turn the phone to silent/mute.

    No joy.

No shutter sound setting any where.

I checked the app, I unchecked the app. Volume on, volume off. No change.

Anyone else with a Note 2 on Sprint with 4.1.2 stock, get this to work?

If the phone is rooted... goto root > system > media > ui
Under ui , rename the files shutter.ogg to anything eg shutter_no.ogg
    do the same for camera...
    Reboot....
    Voila!!!! No camera sounds...

    Enjoy!

I tried that link to the apk app. It worked on my galaxy s4 but I had to switch back to the s3 and it won't work on the galaxy s3.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx! Also I have Sprint. Looking into switching to tmobile. If anyone has info on that as well I would be very grateful.

Still didn't work for me. Comes up with "successfully set volume to 0" so I go into camera only to hear the shutter sound still.
