Notification+widgets while using pattern unlock

I'm a new Galaxy S4 user as of yesterday morning and I'm still getting used to the phone. Coming from an iPhone I'm used to the stacked notifications and things like quick access to the camera from the lock screen even when I had a security PIN in place.

In playing around with the Galaxy it's looking like my options are severely limited as to what I can add to the lock screen if I keep some form of security in place on the phone. Is this correct?

Does anyone know if there is any way that I can add notifications, weather, widgets, etc to the lockscreen if I have a security method in place?

I'm in the same boat as you. After some search in the forums, it appears the S4 is not capable of having the camera shortcut while locked with pin/password. I found this to be absolutely unacceptable. There are so many little issues / annoyance vs. the Iphone. I regret moving to Android from iOS. (i'm not an apple fan boy at all).
