I had unlimited data before I got the S4. I did not pay full price for the phone but renewed my contract for two years for $199 (which was $249-50 mail in rebate)

I just checked via my Verizon mobile app and it still shows me at unlimited data?

My plan ends each 22nd day and I got the phone on the 23 of May, maybe this is the reason why it still shows unlimited data?

Mine shows the same...I'm assuming it will change for the next billing cycle (though I'm certainly hoping it doesn't, I'm not holding my breath either).

Interesting to see that there are people giving up unlimited data in exchange for the subsidized pricing. Would be very interesting to see the numbers and trends on people moving away from unlimited to share everything. Just according to VZWs plan....

I'd wait for your next billing cycle, but I have heard of some cases where they're actually respecting their grandfathered unlimited data plan, so that might be it for you, too... (Here's hoping!)

The only way to keep unlimited is if you buy this phone at MSRP or if you have multiple lines on your plan and you use someone else's upgrade on your number (Verizon rep specifically explained it to me because I asked him how to keep my unlimited data).

I had no problem doing that. After half our billing cycle we've used about 1/7th of our allowed data. I see no reason to pay extra for a phone just to keep an unlimited data plan we aren't using.

i used to have unlimited too but once i activated the s4 and checked on the verizon app it said 2gb right away. i used to stream my music from google music only because i had unlimited, but now i'll just load them onto an sd card, sure beats paying full price for the phone

Actually, you're paying full price, or more, for the phone when you sign a contract. That subsidy isn't free, you're actually paying the phone off over time.
It isn't subsidized because they love you.

Actually, your contract never goes down. So rather he paid full price or subsidy price his monthly payment is still the same. So with Verizon you are getting a cheaper price.

I bought my last phone at full retail because I used to use a lot more data...primarily because I traveled a lot with my old job and used mobile hotspot quite bit. I have a new job now, and frankly, my phone barely works in my new office (get no signal) and I simply don't use enough data to justify spending the extra money. If I do go over one month, I'll just pay the overage charges, but I really don't anticipate that happening.

I'd wait for your next billing cycle, but I have heard of some cases where they're actually respecting their grandfathered unlimited data plan, so that might be it for you, too... (Here's hoping!)
We'll see...but they definitely made me choose a new plan when I bought the phone.

I just went online today to pay my bill, and it still says "Unlimited". I have a feeling that will change on the next billing cycle...but I do find it curious that yours changed right away...? I won't know for sure for a while I guess, I literally received my phone 2 days after my current billing cycle started.

Same thing happened to my sister. She got a galaxy s3 a few months back and didn't lose her unlimited data. She thought she did but when her phone got stolen and she had to file a claim they told her she still has it.
