    Hi,
    I wonder if any of you knowlegable folks could help me.

    I ported my Orange Number (UK) over to my New S4 (Tesco Mobile UK) yesterday. However, although the number has been ported correctly, if i go into settings>more>about device>status, "My Phone Number" is showing as the old number (Pre Port) supplied by Tesco Mobile. I have re-booted, etc and still it shows the old number. I have done a search on Google but cannot find any info. How can i change this to show my new number?. I have never connected or used Kies, should i try this?

    Any help would be most gratefull.

    I don't think this has anything to do with your phone... did you change SIM cards when you ported your number? Or did they just change the number in their systems and use the same SIM card? If the latter, that might be the issue and you'd need to take it to your carrier for update or replacement.

    what you describe the number has not been ported correctly because the phone has not been notified. i guess there could be some phone glitch. from a different phone so when you call your old number does your phone ring? when you call your new number does your phone ring?

    The number has been ported correctly. I ring my girlfriends phone and my new number comes up fine. My last phone was an iphone 3gs so did not have micro sim so the number was transferred to the new sim supplied by my new carrier.? The number showing in settings does not ring. Very strange, is this an "Android Glitch"

    I have also just found the following which seems identical to my problem. I wonder if there is any software to sort this: wrong number on sim card - Help & Support Forum

    Same problem here with an S5. Apps that read the phone number (Railplanner, Lookout) report the wrong number. Caller ID is OK.
    Three confirm the SIM (which is the same one I used in my S3) has the right number. They don't know what to do and say live with it.
    Curiously I had the same problem with the first S5 I had which had to be swapped after a week due to touchscreen problems. I am not sure if it is the same number showing.
    Annoying but it is not affecting any functionality at present.
