Has anyone downloaded it yet? What do you think of Google's own keyboard? Personally, I think it should have had more customization options.

    My rating: Meh
I installed it as soon as I saw the article on engadget.com. So much cleaner that Samsung keyboard and probably that's why it is way more accurate (for me at least).
Also, I love the fact that you can add your own dictionary and there's an auto correction setting.
Another reason I love it is because it matches my Nexus 7.

Why not use gesture typing? Typing one letter at a time is so old

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you just use Kii with ICS theme. Its free and has more settings. And just as responsive. Also has an edit function.

One thing I can't figure out is how to make the predictive words come up without selecting the word after I've swiped it already. Swiftkey already has the predicted next words ready after I've swiped a word

I like it better than Swiftkey because the buttone are bigger...SwiftKey was great but the buttons were too small, especially the Space Bar
There is a Swiftkey option to make the keyboards "taller". Have you tried that? I ask because to me the Google Keyboard seems smaller.

I agree. The Google keyboard is smaller than swift key. That is why I'm shocked at how many people are remarking on the fact that they like the larger size of Google keyboard.

As I stated earlier. I love the Google keyboard (and I tried it) however the ICS theme on kii is far superior because:

    1) you can swype from numbers and symbols down to get the secondary characters

    2) if you long press the symbols button you can get emoji and edit keyboard.

    3) for how I use it (don't care for premium features) it is also free

    4) I can make trace line (when swyping) 50% thickness, as in my opinion the Google keyboard swype line is way too thick.

Give it a try and lemme know what you think!

Are you talking about an option to make the Google Keyboard taller? If so...don't see it. TIA
    If not, sorry.

Nice keyboard. I also like the fact that since it's free, it stays as the default keyboard on note 2 phones after a restart.

Apparently this isn't a very popular opinion, but after using it a bit I'm very tempted to go back to the Samsung keyboard. I don't type that much, I don't like using gestures and the predictive text seems to work the same for both. I haven't had any speed or accuracy issues with either and while it may be slightly easier to type on the Google keyboard, I really prefer having the number row up on top all the time like on the Samsung keyboard. Anything I gain from the Google keyboard is lost from the time lost having to switch back and forth between letter and number mode. It probably has a lot to do with what I'm normally typing, but that's what I've found so far.

I don't mind it.. I was using it and quickly discovered it doesn't have the .com button.. I don't know why that gets left off so many keyboards when it is so useful!! :banghead:

Kii Keyboard using the ICS theme is pretty much the same as the stock Android keyboard but with a lot more options. I am happy that the stock keyboard is available now as a standalone because it is so great but Kii is my number one choice now.

Well, I have to say...I love this thread because it introduced me to Swype, but I think I like Swype slightly better than the Google keyboard.

Frankly, they are both nice. I'll probably keep playing with them, but sometimes choices become too many and bewildering.

If vote down swiftkey purely from the standpoint that anything orange sucks, way too much orange in the talk to text.
