Keep losing Apps/Widgets

As I settle into my new S4, I'm noticing that every few days I lose one or more apps or widgets from Launcher pages. Almost invariably these are at the top of the screen, and I assume that I'm putting the phone into my pocket without turning it off, and random bumps to the screen are being interpreted as edit requests and the icon is being dragged onto the trash can.

Is there a way to lock the stock launcher to prevent inadvertent edits, or is it time to install a 3rd party launcher?

When you tap the menu button on Apex Launcher there's an option to lock/unlock the desktop. This would solve that problem. In nova launcher its under novas desktop settings.

If the issue is with your screen, then a 3rd party launcher wouldn't help, either. Is your screen set to high sensitivity (for wearing gloves)? Also try setting the auto-lock timer to a lower value. That being said, I don't think your phone in your pocket is the culprit unless you keep your hands in there as well...
