S4 alerts but no notification?!

Hi, I wondered if someone could possibly help because this issue is driving me MAD!

Randomly, at different intervals throughout the day, my phone goes off as if I have received a message/notification (the whistle notification), except there is no notification at all! I've tried to change all the alert settings on every app I have and it still goes off. The only time it doesn't go off it when it is on mute...in vibrate mode it even vibrates. Any ideas?

I've read that it could be certain apps, but the ones I've heard about (Yahoo mail and groupon) I've deleted but it still goes off!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated as its driving me insane :'(

I too have this problem at 9.30 every nihht and it drives me crazy

nappyrasher, yours almost sounds like an alarm might be set, or you have an app set to do something at the same time every night and it's letting you know it's doing it. OP, for yours a quick Google search indicates NFC is a possible cause. Do you have that active or turned off?
