internet data usage question

So I almost went over my data so I turned it off, however I was shopping today and needed to Google a produce quickly. I turned on my data, Googled product and went to 2 Web pages then turned the data off. My onavo and the s4 data tracker said I used 3.1mb using the standard Internet browsers. Is this normal? No other app used any data and I know I did not turn data on all day or even the past week.

I recent switched from am iphone to the s4 and on my iPhone I never got that much data usage. Is this something to do with the s4/android?
