    Hello all,
I upgraded from a Galaxy S2 to an S4 this past weekend and would like to find the cheapest way to get my S3 and S4's screen on external displays the same way I did with my S2.

I currently own the S2 MHL cable, however it doesn't work with the S3 and S4. I'm aware the S4 can use the new MHL 2.0 adapter, but the S3 can't.
I've seen a connector that goes on the old S2 MHL cable and allows an S3 to use the cable, but I'm unsure if this will work with the S4 too.

I'd like to know what my options are. I don't want my old MHL cable to go to waste, and I don't want to have to buy multiple adapters for each phone.

As far as I know, the S3 and S4 have the same pinout, so whatever works with your S3 should work with the S4. The S2 has a different pinout, so that's out of the question unfortunately.

Ah, thank you, whatever works on the S3 will work on the S4.

As I said, I've seen a adapter that goes on the S2 cable and allows an S3 to use it. Its from Samsung so its legit, I just wanted to know if the S3 and S4 could share the same adapter.

i picked up a Miracast adapter (Netgear PTV3000) from my local Bestbuy for $59, $64 w/tax and it works great.

wirelessly display everything on your S4 screen. everything. just like my old MHL adapter for my GalaxyNexus--but i don't have to be sitting the phone beside the tv for it to work.
If you can find one, i strongly recommend it. mine worked straight out of the box w/o need for firmware updates. 1080p resolution & great sound quality.

if you can't find it at BestBuy (they're pushing their own brand, Rocketfish, of the adapter now)--then check Google Shopper & chances are a Staples has it in stock.

The s2 adapter is 5 pin, s3 and s4 are 11 pin. You can use a 5 pin to 11 pin adapter to use it on the s3 up, I believe.

Cool, I'll check out the wireless adapter.
Depending on price though, I may just stick with my hardwired method.

Exactly. I just wasn't sure if the S4 was able to use the same 11-pin adapter as the S3, seeing as it supports MHL 2.0 while the S3 doesn't.

The s3 adapter works with the S4, it's what I'm currently using. The s4 version of the adapter just has some improvements such as having a higher refresh rate.
