s4 and directv app

I downloaded directv app, I get a message saying receiver is not allowing external devices to connect. After 40 mins on phone with directv they had no real answer. My question is , is there any type of settings on phone I need to turn on or off?

This won't be much help, but that message clearly states that your box isn't allowing devices (except the remote) to control it. Look in the settings on your TV.

Yeah ive been looking through it, just recently got s4, but the phone before it would work with no problem, tryed to uninstall and re install app also

You need to go into settings on your directv, then go to "whole home" and then go to external device and select allow for all three options. That will do the trick

Selected allow for all three, go to settings in directv app select only channels I get, but still shows all channels
