In the past I have been able to play music and make/receive phone calls via Bluetooth in my 2013 Kia Rio. For the past few days, only calls? I go to the setting and try to check the media box and it won't let me... any ideas?

I have had my phone for about 6 months and this has never been an issue, it has always worked beautifully. I am thinking about wiping my phone clean and starting from scratch... but I would love to avoid that if anyone has any ideas. THANKS!
I have the same issue. s3 no longer connecting properly to my 2012 kia Rio and it's since my s3 upgraded to android 4.3. Something must have changed in the Bluetooth for 4.3

In the settings for the paired device under Connections>Bluetooth there might be a profile for "media audio" or something similar that you need to make sure is checked.

You could try going into app manager and look for bluetooth share and delete the the data to reset your bluetooth connection settings. You will have to pair it again the next time you use it.

I don't get why nobody suggested this before, but I'll give a try: you can just download DriveDroid, create a blank image and "host" this image on the app. it will make any device (like your car stereo) recognize the image you created on your phone as a mass storage device, so you can put songs in there and play almost anywhere like a flash drive. never actually tried this, but I believe the downside is that you can't access the songs you put there through your music player on the phone

so I looked a little further, and apparently there's an easier way to do that, you can download this app that enables SD cards on your s4 to be mounted as mass storage devices. so you can simply put your songs in your sd card, and mount it when you want to play it in your car.

remember you need to root your phone to use these apps or any app that does something like that.

    .

I have the same problem but what I do is having the Samsung music playing on the phone BEFORE I start my car. Due to that problem, I am thinking in switching back to iPhone. Good luck

yes, have the music plying on the phone BEFORE you start the car. It usually works in my car, but not always. my car is a Lexus and the service people could not fix the problem because there is NO solution. Good luck. Armand

I found that I am able to play my Samsung Galaxy S4 music streaming through the blue tooth of my car only if I have the Samsung music ON FIRST on the phone BEFORE I START the car. Try that. Good luck.

I read these posts...looked around the house for something like a splitter and found one. Audio into phone and ac red and white into brain of my avic n4 which is under passenger seat. Then turn on AV-1 and AV-2 on Avic N4 which mine is connected to AV-1 is works BEAUTIFULLY. Thanks

That depends on your stereo. Unfortunately, most car stereos have iPod/iPhone compatibility through USB but not for Android Media devices. If you connect your phone to the stereo, if lucky, it will recognize it as an USB storage device, but since the mode was removed from Android since Gingerbread, unless your stereo supports MTP (which I doubt), you won't be able to use the phone like you did with the iPhone. Your best bet would be to connect it through the Line In jack (or AUX) and plug the phone through the earphones jack.
Is there an app you can use to play the music through?

Through USB? Nope, not unless your phone still supports Mass Storage Mode (and that'll be only for local files).
