S4 Radio

I had my S4 for a couple months now and I like the phone very much. It didn't live up to the hype but it will do until the Note 3 comes out. But my main problem is that the S4 radio sucks. I'm with Verizon in the DC area and I had great reception with my HTC Thunderbolt and Motorola Droid Razr. But with the S4 I can barley get a good signal. Is there anyway to fix this without rooting my phone?

You can either try to convince Verizon to give you a free network adaptor to increase your calling at home or see if there are more current radios available on the Internet. If you go with the latter, you'll have to root and have a custom recovery in order to apply the radio flash.
