Is there an easy way to silent the phone

Hi just wondering if there is an easy way to silent the phone.
IPhone use to have the switch which I really miss.
If the s4 us locked ypu have to unlock it then turn down can't the volume buttons work when phone is locked ?

I know what you're talking about, I missed that from my Palm Prē!
Apple, in true Apple fashion copied that from Palm!

Anyway, on the GS4 press the home button or the power button once, then press the power button again for a second or two and you get this👇

If you have certain situations or times when you want your phone silenced, on vibrate or with full sound, you can use apps like Llama or Tasker to automate it. I have my phone go silent at work or if it's charging at night and on full volume otherwise. That takes care of >90% of the situations where I have to change my phone volume.

Cheers chaps still not as good as the switch. There are some things that are so handy on the iPhone the silent switch is the main one. Can do it with out taking it out your pocket but will use your suggestion

Isn't that basically the same as pressing the power button a tad? (Post #2)
