How come when I make a call on my S4, when I go to hang up I am in the settings screen making changes or whatever my phone feels like doing. This didn't happen with my old phone the s2. It is really a pain because I cant hang up or anything.

Sorry, I'm not quite clear on the sequence of events. Can you walk us through step by step? What I understand is that when you hang up a call, you're immediately sent to the Settings, and there may be phantom screen touches or selections that you're not responsible for?

Mine does that when I'm actually on the call. I was reading in another thread it might be the sensor and used compressed air to blow out the sensor and ear phone area. That seemed to work for a little while. But within a few days it was doing it again... Very annoying

Do you have the proximity sensor turned off in Settings? It sounds like you're turning on things with your cheek while on calls.

You can actually turn off the proximity sensor on the S4?

I thought you could turn it off on any phone. It turns off on my Kyocera and LG phones.

Yes it does this while on calls. I have that box unchecked, so I will try checking it and see if that helps. But the way that is worded in the setting is awfully weird.

Why is that? It makes perfect sense to me...
Turning on the proximity sensor will detect that you have the phone up to your ear, which will turn off the screen :)

I thought the proximity sensor is what was causing things to open because my cheek was there?

No, the sensor detects that your face is by the screen and it turns the screen off. This saves battery and also stops you from pressing buttons.

how do you turn off the proximity sensor on the S4?

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Dialer, tap menu to get to the Call Settings menu that you can see a few posts above this one. Uncheck the selection for the proximity sensor.
