Selling my S4, what else do I need to do?

I am selling my S4 and I'm not sure what all I need to do as far as encryption, factory reset, all that stuff. I read on one site that you should encrypt the phone then facotry reset it, but now that I've done that, it makes you type in the password before you can do anything. I don't think the person I'm selling it to would appreciate that very much. How can I stop that from happening, and is there anything else I need to do to make sure I am safe to sell the phone?
