Why is my scrolling so Jerky?

Jerky scrolling

I have had a GALAXY S4 now for about a year. Its my first Android phone.
The one thing that really upsets me about it is the interface movement.
Scolling through any screen is jerky with pauses and then leaps forward. It jars the eye and is most off putting.
Anyone know if this is normail or if there is anything that can be done about it ?

Hello Paul, welcome to the forums at Android Central!

Many phones bog down with time if their memory is full or almost full.

It could also be some applications acting up.

Have you ever done any time of cleaning or maintenance to the phone?

Hi Stargate
I have discovered that my phone has just 8GB of memory.
I found an old 2GB SD card and put that in.
I deleted some stuff and ran Ccleaner as you suggested.
It seems a bit better although scrolling through a text message conversation is still jerky.
Maybe its an Android/Samsung thing. My daughter's bottom of the range Windows phone is silky smooth.
