s4 DOESN'T recognize SD Card since system update

there was some sort of system update this morning and now my SD Card is NO LONGER recognized by the device! 90% of my apps are ON the SD Card rendering them unusable! restarting device SEVERAL times made NO difference!!!

Uh-oh. I've seen other posts about SD cards getting messed up if left in during an update. They're not supposed to be affected, but it does seem to happen sometimes.

Go to Settings>Storage. Does it show an SD card is inserted? If not, remove the card, insert it into your computer, and see if you can read it there. If not, run chkdsk to see if there are any bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html

You may just have to reinstall all of those apps. If the card is corrupt, then the data might be lost, unfortunately.
