How do I set emoji button as default on S4 with 5.0.1?

After soft-bricking my S4 (sch-i545) I flashed the factory OF1 firmware and now I cannot get the emoji to remain as default on the Samsung keyboard, rather than the google voice microphone. Before bricking I had the emoji as the default button, but I cannot seem to get it now. If I remember correctly, I am supposed to turn off Google voice typing in the language and input menu, but it just says "automatic" and does not let me turn it off. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really hate having to hold the microphone and then click the emoji every time I want to send one
