Welcome to Android Central! On the stock Email app, the Gmail app, or some other email app?

In general, you can initiate the multi-select function by long-pressing one email first. This should bring up checkboxes next to each email.

On the Gmail app, you can multi-select by simply tapping the senders' avatars at the left of the emails.

You can delete individual emails by doing a left swipe on the email. You will see two choices under the email. DELETED and UNDO. To delete the next email just Left Swipe it.
If you hold down on an email you will get little boxes beside each email. Tap on the box to select each email. You can scroll down and delect about 8 emails before you have to scroll some more into sight. Then hit the trash can at the bottom of the screen!
I find the left swipe method faster for me!
