Standard Swype Keyboard being difficult, preventing me from typing anything

Whenever I try to type anything, be it a text message, google search, or naming a photo album, the keyboard is unresponsive. I best describe it as the language box pops up, freezes instead of fading away, and after I have left the typing function the keyboard will linger behind for about a minute, but it is still unresponsive, while the language box remains in place for about a minute more. How would one fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist after a reboot? If so, try going to the App Manager, select your keyboard app, and Clear Cache. If that doesn't help, try wiping the cache partition: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744

You can also try booting into Safe Mode to determine if it's a 3rd party app causing the problem. Steps for Safe Mode are in that link as well.
