So, I have had the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active since the end of December, with only a few issues that didn't SEEM to be reason enough to take the phone in, since I work constantly.
Unfortunately, one of those issues was that even just dropping my phone on to my mattress would cause the back to pop off.
As life would happen, it fell about six inches to the sink at work and into about two inches of water. And yes, the back cover popped off, causing water damage. The screen almost instantly began to flicker, so I took it apart and put it in rice. The next day, put back together, the phone works great, except the menu button (to view active applications) no longer works. At all.
Now, my question is : according to both AT&T and Samsung, water damage voids the warranty. However, as the water damage would not have occurred, were the phone as resilient and durable as advertised, is this worth fighting?
I love the phone. But I don't love having to restart my phone every time it starts running slow, due to so many open apps.
Any opinions and/or advice is very much appreciated!
    Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, you probably won't win any arguments with Samsung. You might have had a case if you sent the phone in for the loose back cover first. But now, they could easily say that the back cover came loose due to the drop into the sink.

Do you have device protection through your carrier? It would be covered under that, as long as it's not just an extended warranty. I always carry that on my phones, just in case. My wife used it on her last phone, covered everything. But you will have to pay a deductible, probably about $100.
