Hi. I was transferring around 300 photos from my phone to an SD card, when I mistakenly 'dropped' my phone causing the battery to fall out and the phone to turn off (obviously).

A few photos have transferred but they photos cannot be opened (corrupted files) which is making me think that the SD card in question is also faulty. The remaining photos which I transferred have simply gone missing.

Many of the photos were once-in-a-lifetime-photos that I really need to gain access to and get a copy of. Can you help me?

Welcome to Android Central! That's unfortunate.:( If you used the Move command instead of the Copy command, the device may have already deleted the originals (which is why it's always advisable to use the Copy command, then delete the originals once you've confirmed the file transfer was successful).

I doubt the SD card itself is faulty -- the files probably became corrupted when the phone suddenly shut off in the middle of the read/write operation. This is never a good thing, and it's why all computer manuals warn not to shut off a computer in the middle of hard drive access. Recovering deleted files on Internal Storge can be tricky, since it requires rooting (which itself can overwrite some of that deleted data). See this guide: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...os/500142-guide-recovering-deleted-files.html

I would also strongly recommend taking advantage of Google Photos auto-backup in the future, which will help you avoid these kinds of mishaps: https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6193313?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&hl=en
