has anyone tried the uscc s5 root? sorry I'm a newbie and I'm getting the s5 in a month. I want to make sure I can get around the tether block without breaking my phone. I rooted the s3 with no issues but I don't remember where I got the directions and like I said, I don't want to mess it up.

No, what I'm asking is, dose the file that mobilecrackers provided above for the us cellular phone works or not. And I have no idea what Knox is. Like I said, I'm a newbie so give a guy a break. I'm actually looking for some pretty specific insturctions on how to root and remove the tether block on a USC S5. Maybe remove some of the junk apps too but anyways, I'm not very tech inclined and need help. I'll look into XDA but I'll be double checking things before I attempt to root the S5.

How to Root HTC One M8!

Download this video for viewing in HD on your smartphone or computer.
Click Here to Download High-Quality HD video to your Smartphone or Computer.

For those of you who want to root your HTC One M8, the steps are nearly identical to the original HTC One M7 root method except different CWM/TWRP recovery file is used. I will be using Windows computer in this tutorial but I have provided the code you need for Mac and Linux, also you can refer to HTC One M7 Mac video and HTC One M7 Linux video.

If you want to root the latest HTC One M8, here’s how to do it. Before we begin, make sure to MAKE A BACKUP of EVERYTHING on your phone. We will first unlock the bootloader, which will ERASE EVERYTHING on your HTC One M8, you’ve been warned!
This forum is for the Samsung Galaxy S5, not the HTC One M8

Rooting is like having administrator rights in Windows, it gives you access to being able to do things like wifi hotspot, running root only apps to take control of your phone, get rid of bloatware and many more things. If you're the type of person that likes to tinker with his/her phone than go for it (Just make sure you read everything carefully first. Be aware you will void your warranty because it will trip the knox flag.

Has anyone attempted to buy the T-Mobile version of the phone (-900T), as that can be rooted via the above method, and use it on AT&T network? Would there be any negative affect of doing this (aside from the T-Mobile logo on the back)
If that is not possible, is there any other rootable version of the phone (perhaps the -900M) that can be used on all bands of the AT&T network?

Got that brand new shiny Galaxy S5 yet? Want to root it? Of course you do.

Here's a quick run down of the models that have been rooted so far. Don't give up on the others just yet, the phone's new and people need time to learn how to break it open like a kinder egg. We'll have plenty of discussion about what to do after you've rooted as well. That's sorta what goes on in the Rooting, ROMS and Hacks forums.

    Current as of 04/11/2014:

We'll add more devices to the list once they're broken open!
The link is another forum.Very helpful, thank you!

I think the Verizon model G900V is unable to be rooted at this time? Thats what I am seeing on XDA.
I just rooted my Verizon g900v using towel hat software, all went very well.

I'm in the process of catching up on several very long threads over at xda as well as reading on the Samsung knox website. So far, it seems that if the knox flag is tripped, it's irreversible and results in the warranty being void as well as the knox framework not working. If you had no intentions of using knox, then no problem. however, if you have a problem and require repair, Samsung may not repair the phone under warranty. It's not clear if the warranty policy applies everywhere, because some countries apparently do not allow the manufacturer to cancel the warranty for rooting the phone.
So where is the explanation of "knox"? I believe that was the question, I'm interested in that as well.

Hey can we have an easy list of instructions on how to root the s5? I'm particularly interested in rooting the Sprint s5. I see many guys have done it already but I'm still waiting for the clear and easy to follow instructions. Thanks!
