    Need some advice,

I have a Galaxy S5 which was a Three mobile contract phone originally, but I'm using it Tesco Mobile as it's unlocked (don't know how I just put a different SIM in and it worked) - Model SM-G900F - Android version 5.0 - Baseband version G900FXXU1BOD3

Am I in the right place to Root it, I am assuming it would be an 'Internation' version? Is that correct?
Also my computer is only running XP...Is this fine or is it better to do it off a better OS?

Hello and welcome to Android Central Subhasis Pramanik!

Since you have the international model of Galaxy S5, G900F, the rooting process is relatively easy as you do not have a locked bootloader. You will need to download the CF-Auto Root kernel for your model and flash it via a PC Suite called Odin3 v3.09 by carefully and thoroughly reading the instructions in [SM-G900*] CF-Auto-Root

Thanks for your reply. I have some doubt. My understanding is that, CF-Auto-Root is done based of Kitkat. Will it work in Lolipop 5.0 without any problem?

I am using that exact CF-Root on Lollipop.

Hello and welcome to Android Central Scianthrope"

Which model of Galaxy S5, as per #1.2 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide, do you have?

I've got the G900F on Three (Ireland) network. I don't think they do anything to safeguard against rooting. Had zero problems a couple of years ago with same carrier, S3, some earlier version of odin, custom recovery, various custom rom experiments etc. I'm just slightly nervy as the one time it could go wrong could go wrong might happen to me. Is there any way that Odin / Download Mode on the phone can be messed up somehow or is that in protected storage? As long as that's operational I know it's never truly bricked.

It's pretty fool[proof on the Galaxy S5 international model, G900F. No locked bootloaders to worry about. Just a straightforward flash of the CF-Auto-Root kernel, to replace stock, using Odin. See post #36, above, for download details and links.

No, the Stagefright patch makes no difference. Rooting as normal for Sprint users...
