8mpx default? Hm. I'll keep an eye on whether my Flex defaults back from 4:3 13mpx back to the 16:9 10mpx defaults too. Do you have a manual focus slider? I am loving mine but kinda envious of the M8 having a camera profile saver/picker.

hasn't done it since I mentioned it.

I don't think it has a manual focus slider, not sure exactly what you mean though. You can set focus to center, spot or matrix. And you can tap a spot to focus on it. In fact, you can duplicate the selective focus feature doing this which will allow you to see if it'll work in the viewfinder.

Also good color.

Here is a higher res version of that shot I posted last page. Open in a new tab.

Okay, that good enought to see it is in focus and pretty well defined. I like the subtle green that peeks in at center left.

Ah okay. On mine it starts out with matrix focus and tap-to-focus. Then in the extended settings (that undying gear of Googliness), it also has a rear camera selfie assist that uses the rear LED. AND it has a true manual override focus. Where you can set the depth you want for a tricky shot. Like thru rain on a window or thru a bush, the stuff that defeats tap-to-focus every time... it can also make some interesting forced focus at short range too. I'll make an example, it's raining yet again.....

Oooh. That sounds nice. I'm forever fighting with the tap to focus thing. I'll tap, it'll focus at first but then blur as it mis-interprets what I'm trying to focus on (perhaps i have fat fingers? I dunno..)

Well here's an example

The first image is digital zoom, it uses some kind of filter set and looks a bit better than zooming into a normal picture. Then I manually focused for the lower windshield glass, the upper windshield glass, and the pallets on the driveway. I need to fiddle with the controls a bit more but it should make some nice forced focus pics in better light.

Would be even better if the Flex had room for the OIS module found in a couple other LG phones. CHECK if you have an option for Focus in your camera settings, same menu where you find the resolution and color and ISO levels.

no other focus options in the settings. Only via click, which works if you do it right. I still can't quite get "super close" when I click at something really close it focuses for a split second and then blurs so seems to me that the camera is _capable_ of it but it's not happening.

Anyway, here's me focusing on the poker chips, the keyboard, and mario respectively.

Here is my example. Only had the phone for a week but so far I'm impressed. Love the fact, that like my GN/2014, I can just speak the command to take a picture instead of having to touch (and move) the phone. Won't take the place of my Canon SX 50 but it's a great stand-in :)

When you get too close it gets confused. Most phones refuse to do a true macro image of less than six inches distant. Yes I confirmed the lack of custom focus in-store today, pity that. Not a super needed feature but one more tool in the belt really. Your tap focus is about as good as any I've seen able.
