Humm. You might want to have a Sprint technician take a look at it or if you feel like doing some digging around yourself to see if lte is enabled. If your area is known to have LTE and you can't get it at all I would be concerned.

you can just view your phones data with the method above if you don't feel like changing anything. You don't need an MSL number. You can just type in the ##3282# in the dialer then view and follow the steps above to view if your LTE is enabled. If it's enabled and you are still not getting LTE signal in known a read I would have sprint look at it.

So I'm one of those people who completely hate to talk on the phone so I did some google searching to see about finding the msl number without having to call Sprint to ask. Which, in my opinion, is redundant since this is my phone anyways and I shouldn't have to ask. But I digress. Anyways, I found this over at the ever so clever (hehe I'm a poet and didn't even know it) xda forums. You have to go into your settings and allow unknown sources, then go to this link and scroll down quite a ways towards the bottom (not sure about posting direct download for the app so you can do it yourself :P) and install it and then hit 'read' and it tells you your phone's msl number and no calling into sprint!!!

Band 3 is now enabled, haven't really noticed a difference yet but it's nice to know all of my 4g bands are now enabled. Thanks again for bringing this to attention atg284

Upon further reading, band 3 has no affect whatsoever here in the states as its an asian/euro 4g lte band and sprint doesn't use it here.

This is what I saw too, Band 3, is for out of the US. I think people are only seeing some difference is because they will restart the device or go in and out of airplane mode which will make it connect temporarily. Not sure if everyone here is giving Sprint the grief the deserve for this problem, if not join the fight....

That's good to know about band 3 not being important. But enabling LTE in that menu finally allowed me to connect. I will disable band 3 now. Thanks!

Jordo487, I've noticed mine will barely pick up 1 bar of 4g and randomly drops the connection and back to 3g again. A total pain.

OK so I went back to my known LTE tower and my S5 did not automatically switch to LTE. I toggled airplane mode to reconnect and what do you know LTE right when it reconnects. Now I'm wondering if the prl and/or profile tell the phone to only connect to these towers if the market is launched. I really hope all the sprint S5 phones do not have this problem country wide.

Is there anyone in a launched LTE market that has a stead automatic flow from 3G to LTE?

I just hope for Sprint's sake this is just a software or tower setting issues. This could become problematic...To put it nicely

It is being reported at the Sprint Community (taken with a grain of salt) that Sprint has acknowledged there is a problem with the S5 and connecting to LTE, but they have no idea if it is a software or hardware issue.

Well i had to drive through a launched LTE network today and have mixed results....going through the city it connected to LTE and I believe it did so because I did not have 3G active like it was suggested earlier. Had LTE all the way through the city so I was happy. Then when it was time to go home it never connected to LTE the entire trip through the city on the same route I had originally came. At the edge of the city 15 min later I toggled Airplane mode and it connected instantly.

I still think something is wrong. I should not have to toggle airplane mode in a LTE launched city. My prl and profile were recently updated as well. I'm just confused.

Sadly my s5 has done as those in the sprint forums. I can snag a 4g connection for a few moments and now just 3g. With my s4 in the same area I was in today I had full 4g signal. Sprint needs to fix this pronto. I didn't pay $800 for a phone for it to not work correctly. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค

This will help with people on LTE but switched to a Galaxy S5 and now cant connect to LTE..beware its only a temp fix until they fix the towers.

Galaxy S5 LTE will not connect. This Fix worked for me. - xda-developers

I followed the instructions like another thread comment said to do but for some reason I couldn't get it to work still but after playing around I was able to get it working.

    ---- Instructions for enabling: (thanks eyecon82) ----

    1. dial ##3282#

    2. then click edit (need MSL code) (I used SPCUtility.apk as nothing else worked on my S5)

    3. then click LTE

    4. It will show LTE ( also known as Band 25), Band 3, Band 26, Band 41 ( I unchecked marked all of these but the LTE option leave that check marked to on)

    5. Disable all bands leave LTE check mark to say on.

    6. Go to the main directory by hitting back key and choose More at the bottom

    7. Choose HDR/1X Selection and choose LTE only Mode. Click OK to save

    8. You can either reboot or I just turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to reset the connection.

    9. LTE should be working like mine did. But you will not get phone calls until you turn back on the HDR/1X Selection to LTE + CDMA +EVDO Mode but you will get text messages fine.

The items that are underlined in Red are the stuff i added.

---- To tell what Band on: ----

    1. ##debug#

    2. enter passcode 777468

    3. go to LTE engineering menu

I hope this helps because all the other stuff I read would not work for my Galaxy S5 I just bought.

    Thanks

This will help with people on LTE but.....
    Thanks for the info!

I recently went to a different LTE launched area and was able to hold signal for quite some time. I read through your instructions and have tried that and it works but not getting calls or text is an issue. There are so few towers in my area that are LTE complete that it would just be a nuisance more than anything. I can definitely see this process if your area had most towers on LTE though.

Thanks for the engineering method! I will have to check that out.

Super Edit: This link explains what is going on perfectly. What a wonderful site http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/e...ck-technology/

This REEKS of the problems the Note 3 had at launch.

It was huge problem where the phone wasn't able to make phone calls or if the call went through, you couldn't hear because of the constant crackling and popping.

They eventually issued a fix, but shouldnt this stuff be tested out before theyre sold to consumers.
