Ya... I had an LTE phone before they started the upgrades, because i bought it in an LTE area... and it was always draining the battery, trying to catch that glimps of LTE.. Then i upgraded to a NEW LTE Device, and it was auto disabled... and then the text and PRL update came...

My sprint s5 rarely has 4glte unless I put it in airplane mode then turn it off

If your area has not officially launched your S5 may not have it enabled. Mine was dropping back to 3g really quickly until I did what I did I this post. After enabling LTE I was able to connect and stay connected. Sadly this tower requires a drive from my house so no more testing until the tower by me gets updated or I drive back there.

When a market goes to official LTE it sounds like your phone will update to turn LTE on. This manual override just enables it out the gate.

Humm. You might want to have a Sprint technician take a look at it or if you feel like doing some digging around yourself to see if lte is enabled. If your area is known to have LTE and you can't get it at all I would be concerned.

you can just view your phones data with the method above if you don't feel like changing anything. You don't need an MSL number. You can just type in the ##3282# in the dialer then view and follow the steps above to view if your LTE is enabled. If it's enabled and you are still not getting LTE signal in known a read I would have sprint look at it.

So I'm one of those people who completely hate to talk on the phone so I did some google searching to see about finding the msl number without having to call Sprint to ask. Which, in my opinion, is redundant since this is my phone anyways and I shouldn't have to ask. But I digress. Anyways, I found this over at the ever so clever (hehe I'm a poet and didn't even know it) xda forums. You have to go into your settings and allow unknown sources, then go to this link and scroll down quite a ways towards the bottom (not sure about posting direct download for the app so you can do it yourself :p) and install it and then hit 'read' and it tells you your phone's msl number and no calling into sprint!!!

Band 3 is now enabled, haven't really noticed a difference yet but it's nice to know all of my 4g bands are now enabled. Thanks again for bringing this to attention atg284

Upon further reading, band 3 has no affect whatsoever here in the states as its an asian/euro 4g lte band and sprint doesn't use it here.

This is what I saw too, Band 3, is for out of the US. I think people are only seeing some difference is because they will restart the device or go in and out of airplane mode which will make it connect temporarily. Not sure if everyone here is giving Sprint the grief the deserve for this problem, if not join the fight....

That's good to know about band 3 not being important. But enabling LTE in that menu finally allowed me to connect. I will disable band 3 now. Thanks!

Jordo487, I've noticed mine will barely pick up 1 bar of 4g and randomly drops the connection and back to 3g again. A total pain.

That is exactly what is happening to everyone. Check out the Sprint Community forums I posted above.

OK so I went back to my known LTE tower and my S5 did not automatically switch to LTE. I toggled airplane mode to reconnect and what do you know LTE right when it reconnects. Now I'm wondering if the prl and/or profile tell the phone to only connect to these towers if the market is launched. I really hope all the sprint S5 phones do not have this problem country wide.

Is there anyone in a launched LTE market that has a stead automatic flow from 3G to LTE?

I just hope for Sprint's sake this is just a software or tower setting issues. This could become problematic...To put it nicely
