With power saving mode I can restrict background data, cpu performance, screen frame rate, and put the phone in grayscale.

What does ultra power save mode do in addition? all that comes to mind is restrict in access to 6 apps.

I believe in addition to restrictions access to 6 apps is it shuts off all the others.. So only those few can run.. Whereas normal power save while limiting cpu will allow the apps to run in the background.

No data when the screen is off in UPS mode. So none of the background data stuff will work. Normal PS mode is a throttled version of the phone. UPS is a whole other interface.

Nothing beats that Ultra Power Saving Mode. In my first week of recorded measurement to a spreadsheet I got SIX DAYS of use down from 100% to 21%. My Screen Time was 4:47 and my total battery time was 21:44 (calculated by dividing Screen Time by Percentage of use).

That compares to my Kindle Fire HDX where my last cycle got Screen Time of 3:44 and total battery time of 4:14 over six days of use down from 100% to 15%.

By the way, both the HDX and S5 issue a warning screen at 15% to remind the user to start charging.

I turn on UPS when inside my house and not using the S5.
