Help rooting LG optimus F3

I had to pick up a replacement LG Optimus F3 by Virgin Mob. Do to a broken earphone jack. However when I try to root the new unit with Saferoot I get the "Kernel is patched" can't root fail pops up. I had My old one set up just they why I like it. I'm going to take this thing back for a full refund if I can't get it root. internal memory on this thing sucks and If I can't get apps to my memory card its usless to me. Thanks for anyhelp
