Google maps stops when opened from icon.

When I open google maps from its icon I get the Unfortuneately it has stopped (report or cancel) error message.
If I navigate from a locations website, directions tab, it works.
If I use Google voice and ask for navigation to an address, it works.
I have uninstalled maps updates and reupdated it.
Any help appreciated.

Go to Google maps and uninstall the update. Don't install the update see if that helps and report back please. That update maybe the issue.

yep, uninstalled updates fixed it, or clicking the search bar, not the split arrow. hope that makes sense. in the map app.

I think it was the update. I had a similar issue that's why I asked. Glad it works
