Just purchased a (new) Verizon Galaxy S5 that still has 4.4.2 G900VVRU1ANCG on it out of the box and am looking for options/recommendations for rooting.

It doesn't look as though any of the supposed "bug fixes" or "new features" since then that I've read about online are that critical to me, so should I consider rooting at this stage? I've been dismissing/delaying the constant OTA update request (that will take me to 4.4.4) mainly because the first phone Verizon gave me (also on 4.4.2 G900VVRU1ANCG) stopped being able to use the 64GB Sandisk micro sd card after it took the 4.4.4 update, regardless of how many times and what procedures used to reformat the card, and even after the card was replaced. All I would get is the famous "SD Card is blank or unsupported filesystem" error .

Would this Towelroot ap be the way to go? And is it true that (at least on this version I'm on) Knox would not be tripped?

    Thanks

If you intend to root your Verizon phone, you best be doing it now, and IIRC Towelroot will work fine on 4.4.2

why? because Verizon will force the 4.4.4. update on your phone even though you keep saying NO NO NO.

I had 4.4.2 and wanted to stay that way......... VZW forced the update to happen while I was texting and there went the next hour of my life waiting for it to finish.

Forgot to ask: if I ever need to unroot after towelroot (it worked fine) then what would be the procedure? I am on stock and will most likely stay with that, so is it just a factory reset?

    Thanks
