I have ignored this ever since I got the phone April 11, but it is getting to be a PITA.

Picasa insists that I log into it, and I refuse to use any web based file hosting services. Especially if it has anything to do with Google.

I have gone into Google+ and turned off just about everything, but Picasa is still there on my notifications screen wanting me to sign in.

Any thoughts on this? I have searched all over the phone for any menu settings for this and found nothing that will effect this.

It's probably some Samsung-based Picasa sync or uploader, possibly related to the Samsung Gallery app. Have you gone to Settings>Accounts, and made sure there is no Picasa account there? Try selecting your Google account, and also make sure that Picasa is unchecked in the sync options. Check the App Manager, and look for anything along the lines of "Picasa Uploader," and disable it if possible.

Thanks for the reply, have done all of that.
In fact, I have never once signed up for Picasa.

therefore, no account for it ever existed.

Picasa was acquired by Google and became Google+ Photos. They just kept the Picasa designation for your Google+ Photos that are displayed in the stock Gallery app. No idea why they kept the name--it just causes confusion. But if you have a Google account, you essentially have a Picasa account.

I just revisited my Google+ settings and verified that there are no photos there at all,
    all activities are turned off

So, I suspect it is something in the phone, and not directly from Google+ doing this.

Aggravating to say the least, but not a show stopper.

I closed my google+ account because of picasa. I didn't realize when I got my phone that I opened the acct. Photos were getting loaded up to the google+ when I didn't realize it. Google+ doesn't respect privacy and they make it very hard and confusing to control. By closing google+, I closed picasa.

I just went to see how adversely that would effect me.... and the downside is it will close my gmail account. I did that once already and lost my preferred gmail address and they will not under any circumstances let me reopen it.

Except for the gmail account, which is only used by my phone to access Play Store, I can do without all of it....

so, it seems that I will just have to continue to ignore the notifications until I can figure out a way to trap it and keep it from appearing on the notification pull down screen.

I still think the prompt isn't coming directly from a Google app--I suspect it's some Samsung interface with Picasa. HTC has similar prompts for its Facebook for HTC Sense (which is separate from the actual Facebook app, and which I think is used to feed Facebook updates to Blinkfeed). Are you signed into a Samsung account? What happens if you sign out of it?

I assume you checked to make sure picasa isn't installed on your phone? I'm on an s4 at the moment, but I used an s5 for a couple weeks, and a note 3 and 4, and had no such experience.

Did you have google+ prior to all of this? I ask because when I closed mine, it just closed the google+ acct without affecting my regular google acct that I've had for years.

yes, I have had the Google+ account for a few months.... for some reason, I thought it would "enhance" my google experience, then I noticed how intrusive it was getting into my personal life. then I shut it down tight but did not close it.

The fine print makes it sound like if I close out Google+ then I will be closing down my gmail account also. That experience is not one that I want. I don't like, nor do I use gmail, but it is required for our Android phones to be able to use Play Store damn it...

Yup, it does not exist "as an app"

I have a tendency to believe this more than anything else I have come up with. I have not signed out of the Samsung account, so yes, I do have a Samsung Account. I will be working on this later tonight, got a few things that have to be done right now..... but I usually wake up about 0300 and can't get back to sleep, that is when I do my best sleuthing....

just thought I would revisit this one.

The subject just keeps coming up in new threads, and there does NOT seem to be any way to stop it.

I pull down notifications and there it is, a request to sign in to Picassa.... that ain't ever going to happen

so, I just clear the screen and go on, life is too short to worry about it anymore.

I don't have any account set to sync with Google period....

maybe I should do it for each, and then turn it off again...

I just went to Google+ and looked at everything, this message showed up when I got thru.

You have not connected with any apps using Google+ Sign-In.

nothing was set to link, the only thing I had were a very few Email notifications, and I unclicked all of those.

I will be watching my phone, betcha it comes back though.

Looked at that again, and it is already unchecked.

I then decided to totally uncheck everything on that list.... poof!
hopefully no more Google issues ever again............

I do not depend on Google for backups anyway, I save backups on the SD card, on my local PC, in a folder on my email account, and the local PC has an auto-sync external backup hard drive on it.

    I think I am covered

    Hi AZgl1500,

What helped me was the following: Settings, Application Settings (all the way to the bottom), Gallery, now here you open your account (your email name), and unchecked all of the items unless you would like something synced with your Google account. I have unchecked all items on all my accounts with the exception of my primary, and there I just selected the items I wanted to sync up. When you exit back out, under account name it should say sync is turned off when you are done (unless you chose to check something of course). I know it can be frustrating, especially when you have several accounts linked to your phone, and suddenly you receive 4 or 5 sign in requests.
Well I really hope that helps out, or maybe even helps someone else out.

    Keda Dyes Inc

P.S.This also helped my phone perform much better in every area of performance.

Just go I to Settings / Accounts / Google / tap on your account name then scroll all the way to the bottom and uncheck Sync Picasa Web Album.
