pretty short test, and you say nothing about how long you have had the phone, are updates in progress?

a new phone, or one that has been Factory Reset, is going to spend hours updating all of the apps.
until all of that is done, it will be a battery hog.

there are ways to stop even that action though, I turn off the DATA and WiFi radios when the screen is locked. See my signature lines.

you do that, and the phone can set idle for hours and just barely use a few percent of battery.
reports of 8% to 10% per 24 hours if the phone is idle and not being used.

I'm thinking that a lot of activity is going on with your phone, and we the readers have no way of diagnosing your phone remotely.

I'm loving my new S5. Best phone I've owned to date. I'm getting 2 days per charge.

I would say I am moderately active on my device. I spend a lot of time texting, email, Tapatalk forums, and a couple sports apps. Very surprised in the difference from my S3. I could only get just a little over a day on it. I am constantly checking time and weather mostly though. I do have it setup to turn the screen off if idle for 10 minutes also.

If you tap the box that says "Screen", it shows the exact hours and minutes your screen was on during that time frame. That's what he meant when he asked you how long your screen was on, not for the general answer you gave

I can't see your signature on tapatalk, can you post how you've set this up?

Sure, here are some links to keep this particular post shorter. Otherwise, it will seem like writing a book.

3 minutes is not a real good test. You'd have to drain it down for us to get an accurate idea of how your battery is.
