No Voice Directions Using Google Maps?

My S5 has an annoying problem that I cannot figure out to save my life.

Now happening all the time, I will say "OK Google" and the sound it normally makes (a bong) doesn't happen but the directive works fine. Also, when I start the navigation in Google Maps, the voice directions don't work but the navigation works fine. This happens while at home and in the car so it's not a Bluetooth problem.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Please help!!!

Check your settings in Google Maps. Sounds like you might have the voice directions turned off.

Nope. I have tried turning it off then back on with no success.

This may be a dumb question but have you gone into your volume settings and made sure media is turned up?

If I get to maps and say "okay Google) navigate to zzz it charts a path and gives me vocal guidance.

make sure you have the sound set to play through the phone speakers NOT Bluetooth (or turn on your Bluetooth in your cars audio system). The setting is under navigation settings and uncheck the play voice over Bluetooth box

I had the same problem, solved reinstalling Google Maps from the Play Store.
Mind that if you have the Home shortcut created through the app, you need to delete it and create it anew, otherwise you will experience the same problem when using the link.
