How do I unlock my phone for free? It's asking for a Samsung account which I forgot?

The best bet would be to call Samsung's customer service and go through their identity verification process. Once they have confirmed you are the owner they can give you your username and send it to your backup email address.

The carrier might be able to help you too.

I would agree with this process.

If you set up a Google account then you can unlock with the Google account information.

I tried the lock my phone feature for lost phones. On Google account. It let me set a new pin for the phone but it does not change the password/Passcode for the fingerprint.
At least I can get in the phone now. Can't use the fingerprint alternative password though.
