I use my phone pretty heavily throughout the day and night. I typically have to charge it for an hour or so shortly after lunchtime. And then again in the car on my drive home. After i do all that I'm usually around 70%-85%. Once i lay down in bed I'm anywhere from 5%-25%. I know I've been told not to charge over night but it's a habit I've had since i owned my first blackberry six years ago. Looking for some suggestions. Two pictures of my battery usage below.

Thanks in advance.

The Android System is quite high. Is that normal for you (in most cases it isn't)?

Some things to consider would be turning the brightness down a little bit. You might be surprised if you turned it down from 100-80. You will adjust quite quickly, but that can save on your battery.

Charging overnight isn't a bad thing. The device should stop accepting power once it hits a full charge. I do it all the time with my Nexus and M8.

As for options, is it possible for you to get an external battery, or and extended battery? An external being a separate device you can use to charge the phone, or an extended battery meaning a larger than stock battery.

Edit: with a wireless charging back plate, you can charge wirelessly.

You can get a phone that supports qualcomm quick charge 2.0. For example on my note 4 I can charge 50 % in half an hour. You can charge you take a shower or otherwise get ready for bed and when you wake up. You can also charge on the car on the way to work.

I actually have my brightness at on auto, so you think that can still make my battery drain faster than if i did it manually?

Speaking of the note 4, how big of a difference is it than the s5? I switched to the s5 back in June after i had an iPhone 5 and it took me a little to gerry used to the much bigger screen. I'm eligible for an upgrade and was thinking about trying out the note 4, but on the other hand i was thinking about holding out for the s6.

I never had the s5 so can't really comment.

Also with regards to your issue, you can get a lower rated charger, say 500ma, 700ma,1a,etc which should charge slowly throughout the night. You can try different ones to see what works for you.

Another option would be to put a timer on the charger so it automatically shuts off at a certain time.
