Both of my Samsung Galaxy S5 OEM and mpj extended battery has NFC for wireless charging which is incredibly convenient, but my friend suggests me to avoid wireless charging. Is it really harmful to batteries?
Thanks!

Not only no, but hell no.

It is far better to keep the battery in the upper half of its' charge than to let it go all the way down to 10% or lower.

Lithium-Ion is not the stuff of yesteryear, ie NiCads... which developed a memory.

Just install the Qi chargers and toss it on the Qi charger pad if you aren't using it and it is below 75%

Toss this back at your friend.... Qi chargers charge at about 750 mA which reduces the amount of heat generated while charging.

Less heat is a good thing, and that is the reason I recharge both of my S5 phones at 50% or higher... less heat.
