I installed it almost 20 hours ago.maybe a new android update will help to improve battery life overnight, but now the only way to fix this problem is to put my phone every time to charge when its possibile and buy a power bank. Do you have battery drain overnight?

My money is on the user apps installed. Try putting your phone into Safe Mode tonight, as per #1.4 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide, and see if the drain persists.

I am afraid you cannot compare your battery drain with that of a completely different phone, hardware and OS.

    Hello there,

Reboot the phone in safe mode first then update google play services.

Wipe the cache partition and boot your phone.

If the problem persist then a factory reset would fix it for sure.

I've done all these steps. Nothing has helped. Matter of fact yesterday my phone earse and reset itself. Went to go use it and the screen was on wizard setup. Samsung S5 is the worst phone ever. Makes me think twice in getting the Note 5.

Maybe the phone is not coping well with the update so try downgrading it back again and see if that helps. If it doesn't then try buying a new battery.

I updated my Samsung Galaxy Alpha last night and had the same problems - battery draining at about 1% per minute and the phone getting much hotter than normal.
Tried going through all sorts of options but nothing obvious.
Decided to leave overnight from full charge and see what happened - 8 hours later was on 60% with a battery saver app installed that shuts off all wireless and stops running apps when not in use.
As soon as I started using it again in the morning it got hot again.
Tried enabling the 'Power Saving' option and allowed it to reduce the CPU performance. This immediately reduced the drain and the phone stopped getting hot. Not a great solution but to my surprise when I turned it back off again it did not start getting hot again and battery has only drained a further 15% in the 6 hours since.
Not tried restarting to see if it goes back to getting hot again but looks like a promising possible solution for the Alpha.

Best thing to do is a hard reset.

If you are doing a factory reset all of thee time it means that there is an underlying issue and you should contact Samsung about it as you may need a replacement.

    Hi All
I recently updating my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and since then have being having problems with the phone overheating and draining the battery. I fully charged the battery and within 2 1/2 hours the phone went from 100% battery life to 8% without me using it.
The phone itself also became very hot to touch, both front and back.
Has anybody else had the same experience?
    Thanks

Hello and welcome to Android Central CL B!

Sorry to hear you are having problems. To determine your phone's OS, what it all means and how to download and flash firmware, see 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

I would advise against downgrading your firmware as you will not get the latest bug and security fixes and your phone could be at risk. A Factory Data Reset might be a better idea and this is described in post #2 of S5 Update Problems - Dummies Guide. Before the Factory Data Reset I would suggest wiping the phone's cache partition as per #1.3 of the guideand see if that helps.
