How to update music player?

When I heard about the new 5.0 software coming out on the Galaxy s5's I tried to update it but it didn't work. So I tried to do it on my laptop with the Verizon upgrade assistance but after waiting for a little less than an hour it was still 4.4.4 :/. Then I decided to do the repair assistance but that didn't help either. Anyways the only problem was that the default samsung music player (not google play music) went back to the old version? Is there any way I can update it back?
