I have an S5 on Verizon and am looking at the t mobile unlimited plan for two phones at $100.00
    Unlimited data,etc.
Other than coverage are there other differences between verizon and t mobile I should be aware of?
    OS, software, navigation, updates,etc?

About the only difference is what happens when the signal gets bad. On Verizon (or any CDMA system), it sounds kind of underwater. On a GSM system (like TMO) it sounds like autotuning on steroids (think Cher squared).

The OS is iOS or Android, the apps are the same for all Android phones and for all iPhones (not the same for both, but all carriers' Android phones run the same apps), Navigation is Maps (or Waze or whatever you use). Updates? TMO is probably a little faster than Verizon, but not consistently. Sometimes one comes out before the other, sometimes it's reversed. It depends on who made a typo in modifying it for the carrier.

Remember something, though - unlimited data at LTE speeds up to 1GB/month. After that it's probably closer to 64kb/s for the rest of the month. And you can eat 1GB in a few minutes. (You're lucky you have Verizon S5s - they should give you LTE on TMO.)

    Thank you.
I think my s5 will work on their network.
I do need to reconfirm the lte speed up to 1g. I was once told unlimited plan had no throttling?

Its true, the plan your talking about is unlimited 4G without throttling. I'm thinking about switching my wife and I from Verizon as well. I was under the impression that Verizon phones would not work on T-Mobile though. If they do, I'll make the switch tomorrow!

We switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and they were much cheaper. The unlimited data is nice too. We both have the no throttling unlimited data and use over 10 GB a month. We've never noticed any other significant differences. T-Mobile actually gets better coverage around us

Your Verizon S5 should work on T-Mobile. All Verizon LTE phones are unlocked. The only caveat to that is T-Mobile will not pay off your Verizon ETF if you do not trade in your Verizon phone. If you are out of contract, then that is not an issue.

You just have to trade in a phone. If you have an old phone laying around you can turn that in and keep your S5.

I am on TMO over two years, price is unbeatable but get ready for signal issues inside the buildings and outside of big cities. I was on the trip from Chicago to Denver, half of the road was some Iowa roaming provider and by my big surprise data is limited to 50 mb per month so I ran out of data in 5 minutes.

I don't know if roaming data is limited when on the unlimited data plan? Will have to look into this.
    Thank you for the info.

The manager at the local store said that my S5 will work but some features may not due to hardware issues. Radios?
When tethering, with the free 5G, she's heard that sometimes other cos. phones won't work correctly and some other minor features.
Not worth spending another $4-500 at this time for a new phone.
Will keep mine and have to buy a new one for my wife. First time with a smart phone. Considering an iphone for her which should work smoothly from the beginning with little tweaking needed. She is not going to modify it, etc. as I do on android.

My Verizon Note 2 works on T-Mobile, I get 4G but not LTE.
Many of the newer Verizon phone do though.
