Bloatware update. I find this to be more of an insult than an update, since I don't use the fingerprint scanner. Not available on my phone, yet.

    This is the article...

Samsung Galaxy S5 On Verizon Getting Minor OTA Update To Add GALAXY Apps, Fingerprint Authentication For Exchange Accounts

The update takes the Verizon to build version... G900VVRU1BOD5

"Hopefully", this will take the changelist that the build is based on to around #5000000+.... a big jump from #3846539 and would bring it into line with the worldwide models and give it all the features and enhancements enjoyed by other S5 users.

I say, "Hopefully", because I am sure that not even Verizon would dare to issue a changelist #200000 or #300000 patch to that very, very, old and cr*ppy 2014 Lollipop version that they've already patched once before, without updating the Lollipop version.

We're not talking about a Samsung release that is available immediately, en masse, through their huge worldwide servers. This is Verizon and they will stage the update over the next few days/weeks/months to their customers... if, indeed, the original report in posts #1 and #3 are correct!

Despite the millions of posts on this and other forums complaining about Verizon's own, old, ersatz, clone version of Lollipop, Verizon have decided that what their customers really wanted on their G900V phone's is... MORE BLOATWARE!

According to this Tech Times report, here...

"The software update has the version LRX21T.G900VVRU1BOD5 and brings several novel features Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 users' way. The new features include the GALAXY Apps, where the app store will be installed automatically to your device. This is a revamped version of Samsung Apps and GALAXY Apps would possibly have a far more extensive selection when compared to Samsung Apps.

The Verizon software update for Galaxy S5 also brings support for Fingerprint Authentication for unlocking Microsoft's Exchange Accounts. This is a more useful update when compared to the above mentioned one. Thanks to the update users will be able to unlock their smartphone when their Microsoft Exchange account acts as the device administrator.

The sensor strikes a fine balance between safety and convenience and will be welcomed by users who are pro additional security features.

These are the only additional features the new software update from Verizon will bring. The minor OTA update will probably be pushed out in phases as is usually the case and may take some time to make its way to your Galaxy S5.
    "

Verizon are spoiling their customers. First they held the title of the oldest, most out-of-date, Lollipop based S5 firmware worldwide and now they are the most carrier bloated S5 firmware worldwide.

    (I think we're gonna need a bigger forum! )

I used to think Verizon was The Carrier to have, but the only decent service they offer is the network from all I have heard of late.
They seem to have gotten so "Big" (headed) that customers are just treated like they should be greatful to let Verizon take their hard earned money...
Only way that will change is if more than half their customers ditch Verizon & most are happy being lead to the slaughter

So does this mean that it is only a label that it's OD5? No other improvements based on other changelogs throughout the world? Ironass' other posts have suggested that lollipop has really matured on the latest version in the wild. That's sad that they would only change those certain things and no other bug fixes. I'm still holding out with kitkat.

OD5 is just the build date for a particular model. In this case, the 5th build of April,2015. See #1.9 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide.

This however, signifies nothing when it comes to the likes of Verizon and AT&T, whose firmware is not issued by Samsung. See, for instance, post #1 of Lollipop, new, even BIGGER, update!!!, which shows both Verizon and AT&T on OC4 firmware releases but on closer inspection, we can see that they are on totally different changelist numbers with Verizon being way behind AT&T.

Whilst I do anticipate an increase in Verizon's current changelist because of their new added bloatware, it would need, as per post #3, above, to be in the region of changelist #5000000+ to put it on a par with even the previous, OD3, stock Samsung release.

Since Samsung do not release this firmware,I will not know what the new changelist will be on this Verizon firmware until someone who has it installs Phone INFO ★Samsung★, free from the Play Store, and looks under, "Android", for the, "Changelist", number shown there and posts it.

We have a saying in my country, when someone is unreasonable or takes liberties, it's called...

    "Taking the p*ss!"

"If", this report from SamMobile is correct... that is exactly what Verizon are doing to their customers...

"The largest carrier in the US has actually released a minor update for the Galaxy S5 which retains the core OS version but makes some tweaks to the software.

Verizon is rolling out software version LRX21T.G900VVRU1BOD5 for Galaxy S5 owners on its network, the update will auto install the Galaxy Apps app store on the device as well as enable the fingerprint scanner for unlocking Microsoft Exchange accounts. That’s really all there is to this update
    "

Basically, what this appears to mean is that they are keeping their cr*ppy, old, original, out-of-date, heavily bloated, 2014 version of Lollipop with its lack of features, heavy battery drain and poor battery performance and are going to add even more lag creating and battery draining apps... I wonder how that will work out?

So, while other users worldwide can enjoy all the new features and performance enhancements from later Samsung Lollipop updates on their Galaxy S5's... Verizon are punishing their customers for being, well... their customers!

Make no mistake... this is nothing to do with Samsung, see #1.6 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide, this is purely a commercial decision by Verizon.

Oh, and before anyone asks... yes, this will be a Verizon forced update that you will be unable to refuse unless you root your phone.

Perhaps Verizon should issue lube to their customers before they insert the rough end of a pineapple where the sun don't shine!

Does anyone know if this will open up the ability to use the fingerprint scanner to unlock for all corporate e-mails that previously did not allow this? I ended up deleting my work account because that functionality was grayed out and found an alternative workaround, but I would love to go back to using the native app for my work e-mails (Outlook app has been very slow and unreliable).

Hello and welcome to Android Central JMUhcky01

The simple answer is that until someone actually receives this update, no-one knows. I'm guessing that in theory, it should do but who knows with Verizon firmware.

Great find. I hope more people chime in and report that it's more of an improvement than what is on Verizon's website(bloatware). Considering how much people ***** and moan its been very quiet. The download must not be in full swing yet.

It has been released. Verizon will roll it out in stages over the next days and weeks, unlike Samsung who release en masse from their huge, worldwide, servers. You could always download it from my previous link and flash it via Odin. See #1.11 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

Just a note that I already have several of these features (first 4) prior to this new release. Looking forward to more/others though once this update reaches me.

Since Samsung are not responsible for the release of Verizon firmware, it is difficult for me to know which features have been added, removed or replaced in each firmware release from Verizon so I chose those from the stock Samsung releases in the last 6 months.
