I think my LCD screen is broken on my Galaxy S5, how can I tell if it is?

i think my lcd screen is broke on my galaxy s5

I got a galaxy s4 from a friend she said the LCD screen was broke but the glass screen is not even a scratch. The lights work when it is on charge and the back button lit up to. So is it the LCD screen ?

Welcome to Android Central! S4 or S5? Which lights work? The capacitative button backlights? If the screen doesn't light up at all, then the screen itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.
