    Hello i am using a galaxy s5 running on android 5.0 and i cant update to the latest version.
    So i was thinking can i update using an sd card by downloading the os into the sdcard and from there updating is that possible?

    No.

    However,you can download the stock Samsung firmware for your model of phone and CSC code and flash it via Odin by carefully following the instructions and video in #1.11 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide
