Received some strange text messages - one with multimedia. With this stagefright scare, wondering if there is anyway to check whether my phone (Samsung S5) is infected?

Extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY unlikely you have a problem since with supposedly about 950 million vulnerable devices out there, there was exactly ZERO Stagefright intrusions.

Security patches will be out quickly. Until then, if you're worried about it you can nullify Stagefright by simply doing this:

In your messaging app, go to Settings > Advanced > Disable Automatically retrieve MMS messages.

The exact steps to disable auto-retrieve may be somewhat different depending on your messaging app.

Plain text SMS are not affected.

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001.
