I bought my new unlocked S5 in early April 2015. And I've had this issue for the past week or so. I've tried to charge my phone overnight and it'll beep constantly, going from charging to not charging anywhere from every 5 seconds to every minute. When I wake up the next morning, my phone hasn't charged at all. Sometimes, by moving the charger just a slight bit, it starts charging again, but sometimes not (this is all using the "official" come-with-the-phone Samsung USB 3.0 wall charger). Eventually it got to the point where my phone wouldn't recognize any charger (husband has the same phone and his phone had no problem recognizing my charger).

I looked up issues and how to solve them and ended up factory resetting my phone because I found that my phone would charge when I booted into safe mode. Reset seemed to work - because my phone immediately recognized my charger again and I was then able to charge my battery up to 100%. Next couple days the phone started to have issues with the beeping and charging/not charging again. And at one point the phone still wouldn't charge while in safe mode. I ended up factory resetting my phone two more times, the last time, I was able to disable my "saved apps" from my Google Play settings so that it didn't automatically update the apps I had installed before. In other words, I ended up with maybe 10 apps installed vice maybe 30 I had before. That seemed to work great for a few days. I updated a bunch of the Google Apps I use yesterday (G+, Photos, Calendar, Gmail) and installed one other app (Waze) - and my phone charged from 35% to 82% last night then started the beeping/charging/not charging thing again. I uninstalled Waze, cause thought maybe that was the problem, rebooted and tried charging but it continues to just charge/not charge/beep and ultimately ends up not charging.

Given what has worked and what hasn't, I'm debating whether the charging port is the problem or if it's the apps I've installed. But before I send out for a new phone via my warranty, I wanted to check to see if anyone has any more bright ideas to try. I worry that now with my battery down to 50% that I won't be able to charge it up again unless maybe I factory reset AGAIN. I have another battery coming in tomorrow so I can try changing that out as well, but any other ideas?

The charging port became disconnected inside. When you move the charger (or the phone), you're pushing the disconnected pin down, making contact. (It's about as certain as the reason that blood is coming out of your arm is that you have a hole or cut in your skin. There's a tiny chance you have a very rare disease that causes it, but when you hear hoofbeats in the US, think horses, not gnus.)

It should be covered under the warranty.

I just had the same problem. At first the meeting started and I looked all over the smart phone and couldn't find a reason for the beat. Then I noticed that while my phone was on charge it was not charging all the way. So when I want to sleep, I left the charger on, expecting it to be 100% in the morning. It hardly moved. I have a spare charging cable. I replaced the charging cable and the problem is going along with the beginning. I hope this helps you.

I won't speculate as to why, but this positively works for me.

I bought my s5 duos phone unlocked in the UAE. After about 6 months my phone exhibited the same behavior. I assumed it was the battery as switching the charging sources seemed to help short term but was still plagued with the charging issue and beep. I bought a new battery which solved the problem for about 6 months. Then the same issue manifest. Since the battery should last more than 6 months, I assumed the old battery might be good so I swapped the original battery back in. Problem solved. Two months later I swapped the the new battery back in. Still works and works with either battery.

Ok, I can't resist the impulse to speculate... This is a total SWAG, but I think swapping the battery resets faulty battery control logic.

    Hope this helps.
